Helen
As Founder and Director of Smeaton Block Ltd, I take pride in overseeing the day-to-day running of the business and staying closely involved with every block we manage. I enjoy building positive relationships with residents, leaseholders, and Freeholders and believe that good property management comes from being approachable, organised and responsive.
Over the years I have gained extensive experience in block management, supporting leaseholders with everything from service charge budgeting and financial management to maintenance, repairs and compliance. I am passionate about ensuring buildings are safe, well-maintained and cared for to a high standard, while also making sure services and contracts offer real value for money.
My background in tenant-focused roles within the Housing Association sector has given me a strong understanding of the importance of clear communication, quick responses and practical problem-solving. I work closely with residents, contractors, consultants and other professionals to help buildings run smoothly and to resolve issues efficiently and professionally.
Ian
With a background that spans offshore shipping and successful business ownership, I bring a calm, approachable style to my role as Finance Lead. I understand the value of building trust, being available and keeping things straightforward, qualities that fit perfectly with a company that prides itself on being friendly and easy to work with.
My experience managing budgets and day‑to‑day operations give a strong foundation for supporting Smeaton Block Ltd as it expands its client base. My priority is ensuring financial clarity for residents, leaseholders and colleagues, helping the business grow without losing the personal touch that makes it special.
The Team are committed to continuous professional development, keeping up to date with current legislation and industry best practice, and work in accordance with the standards and codes of practice set out by The Property Institute (TPI).

Joining Smeaton Block Ltd marked an exciting career change for me after more than 20 years working as a careers adviser. I was drawn to the company’s resident-focused approach and close-knit team, and the opportunity to bring my people skills, organisational abilities, and problem-solving experience into property management.
As a Property Manager, I genuinely enjoy building positive relationships with residents and helping properties run smoothly day to day. I am gaining experience across a varied portfolio, from luxury apartment blocks to smaller mixed-use buildings, and take pride in being approachable, responsive, and solution-focused.
Whether it’s resolving issues quickly, coordinating maintenance works, or simply being a reliable point of contact, I am passionate about providing a professional service that gives residents and owners confidence that their property is being well cared for.
